What if ‘flavour’ had a personality?
I was approached by Mangez Bien, a plant-based packaged noodle brand in Taiwan, with an exciting idea. They wanted to bring their new vegan noodles to life by giving them distinct characters and creating illustrative packaging designs. In today's fast-paced world, where people are often short on time and eating out is the convenient choice, the packaged noodle market has been thriving. To differentiate themselves amidst the crowded shelves, we decided to take a unique approach: selling the product without relying on food photography and instead using illustrations to tell a captivating story."
Meet Alaia
Alaia, the embodiment of fragrant and rich flavour, represents thin noodles with a shallot and onion sauce. She exudes a low-key charm, emphasising coziness in her fashion choices.
Easygoing and nostalgic are the perfect words to describe Alaia, according to her friends. She finds joy in recreating her mother's dishes from cherished memories, making it her favourite way to enjoy some quality me-time.
Meet Pepper
Pepper, the creative director of an advertising agency, embodies thick noodles with a spicy and numbing sauce. Just as she excels in curating matching colour palettes for her daily outfits, her culinary creativity extends beyond visuals.
In the kitchen, Pepper thrives on experimentation, particularly with spices and fragrances. She seeks a sensory experience in her food, aiming to tantalise the taste buds. From the initial numbing and burning sensations, the flavours gradually transform into a vibrant red hue, complemented by the freshness of crisp greens, creating a captivating dance on the tongue.
